Daniil Kvyat thinks there is more to come from Renault's power unit before Melbourne after he completed his final day of winter testing.

Kvyat managed 84 laps on Friday in a day with a stoppage either side of lunch, though nothing serious enough to prematurely end his session. Red Bull has had a relatively quiet pre-season and Kvyat thinks there is still gains the team can make on the power unit side.

"In the end these are the tests and we are always trying to improve any area," Kvyat said. "We are working on our chassis, on my side I am always trying to make my best to make the car go faster on corners. This is why I am a driver, I cannot do anything down the straights - this is the business of someone else. We obviously expect more steps from Renault's side and hopefully we will get them."

"There is always some room for improvement. Of course we are looking for a further step forward because we always want to be faster. The competition level seems to be very high, the benchmark seems to very high but we are keeping our head up and put all the positives together and take the best from our package."

Mercedes laid down a marker to the rest of the field on Friday when Nico Rosberg posted a headline time of 1:22.782 on soft tyres, but Kvyat is not dwelling on the pace of others.

"Well, obviously they are fast but I don't think it's a surprise for everyone. We just have to focus on our own business at this stage. Looking at where they are now will not it will not help us stay focus on our job."
