Glen Johnson: Misses Christmas fixtures
The England full-back was replaced by Kolo Toure during the first half of United's 3-0 Super Sunday win and later told Sky Sports he had suffered a tear to the muscle.
Johnson, who will be out of contract next June, is now facing a second significant spell on the sidelines after missing almost six weeks with a thigh injury in the autumn.
And Brendan Rodgers goes into Christmas without one of his most trusted defenders as he aims to turn around a run of form which has seen Liverpool win just two of their last 10 games.
There are alternatives available to Rodgers, who has used Johnson on both flanks this season. Javi Manquillo has started nine times in the Premier League and is the obvious choice to fill in at right-back, while Alberto Moreno and Jose Enrique have played at left-back in recent weeks.
And Jon Flanagan, a regular in the second half of last season, is on his way back after a knee injury.
Comments on here are funny, since he scored the winner against Stoke, this guy has been no better or worse than anyone else, but, strangely, always cops the flak from the supporters. Be interesting to see how they react when Flanagan comes back into the side. And there's even someone on here comenting on Toure who has played ok this season every time I have been watching. Nothing like having the same predictable scapegoats.- Gab1965Post a CommentView the Comments Page

(3) Readers' Comments We have the personnel. The trick is keeping them fit. Carrick and Blind have missed large chunks of the season, while the defence has been one muddled mess of intermittent stooges, all coming and going at various intervals thus far. We may be just short of title winning quality, but we're half way through. An injury crisis to either of the top two could change things. Optimistic, yes, but not unrealistic.

arish is the man to blame for this shambles. Pulis must be chuckling into his left over turkey sandwich. I pray this doesn't mean the Neil Warnock media machine will kick in now and he'll be back on the telly box.

e almost found a new way to lose, just when I thought it was getting boring Giroud does that. Although Arsenal are deservedly called 'soft' the entire midfield is out injured. Still must admit MU are managing to win despite a similar raft of absentees. Think the Gunners have good players but poorly coached.
